What tire pressure should a Toyota Sienna have?

Toyota's 2026 Sienna owner's manual lists a recommended cold tire inflation pressure of 35 psi (240 kPa) front and rear for the P235/65R17 and P235/60R18 tires, and 36 psi (250 kPa) front and rear for the 235/50R20 tire. The compact spare, if your van has one, is 60 psi (420 kPa). Confirm the figure on the tire and loading information label on your van.

From the "Tires and wheels" specifications in Toyota's 2026 Sienna Owner's Manual (OM08082U), pages 691-692, read November 3, 2026. The manual lists the same 60 psi (420 kPa) compact spare and a wheel nut torque of 76 ft-lbf (103 N-m) for every tire size. It also says never to exceed the maximum cold tire inflation pressure on the tire sidewall.

Use the pressure on your Sienna's label

The manual groups the 2026 Sienna's tires by wheel size: 17-inch and 18-inch tires are 35 psi (240 kPa) front and rear, and 20-inch tires are 36 psi (250 kPa) front and rear. It does not tie a wheel size to a grade in the specifications table, so the simplest way to know which applies to your van is the tire and loading information label. The manual says the recommended cold tire inflation pressure and tire size are displayed on that label.

The manual also says not to use tire sizes other than those recommended by Toyota. Not every Sienna carries a spare: the manual covers vans with a compact spare and vans without one, so check your own van before a long trip.

How to check Sienna tire pressure

The owner's manual says to check tire inflation pressure every two weeks, or at least once a month, and not to forget the spare. Check only when the tires are cold: if the van has been parked for at least 3 hours or has not been driven more than 1 mile (1.5 km), you will get an accurate cold reading. Always use a tire pressure gauge, because it is difficult to judge inflation by appearance.

  1. Remove the tire valve cap.
  2. Press the tip of the tire pressure gauge onto the tire valve.
  3. Read the pressure using the gauge gradations.
  4. If the pressure is not at the recommended level, adjust it. If you add too much air, press the center of the valve to deflate.
  5. After measuring and adjusting, apply soapy water to the valve and check for leakage.
  6. Put the tire valve cap back on.

The manual says it is normal for pressure to be higher after driving because heat builds in the tire, and not to reduce pressure after driving. It lists what incorrect pressure can lead to: reduced fuel economy, reduced driving comfort and poor handling, reduced tire life, reduced safety and damage to the drive train. If a tire needs frequent inflating, the manual says to have it checked by your Toyota dealer.

The tire pressure warning light

The Sienna's tire pressure warning system uses tire pressure warning valves and transmitters in the wheels. The manual describes a 2-type warning:

"Adjust Pressure" (normal warning)

The light comes on and a buzzer sounds when pressure becomes low from natural air leakage or outside temperature. After the tires have cooled, check each tire and adjust them to the specified level.

"Immediately Check tire when Safe"

The emergency warning is for pressure becoming low suddenly, such as from a blowout. Stop the van in a safe place as soon as possible. The manual notes the system may not detect sudden tire ruptures.

Light blinks for about 1 minute, then stays on

This indicates a malfunction in the tire pressure warning system. Have the system checked by your Toyota dealer.

From the 2026 Sienna Owner's Manual (OM08082U), pages 560-563, 625-626 and 628-630, read November 3, 2026. The manual says the pressures shown on the multi-information display can differ from a tire gauge reading, and that the system does not replace routine pressure checks.

After rotating or replacing tires

The manual says the tire pressure warning system must be initialized when rotating the tires, when changing a tire, after registering ID codes and when changing between two registered wheel sets. Initialization sets the current pressure as the benchmark, so first park in a safe place, stop the hybrid system for 20 minutes or more and adjust each tire to the specified cold pressure. Then start the hybrid system and choose "Setting Pressure" under the TPWS setting menu on the multi-information display; the tire pressure warning light blinks 3 times. Finish by driving straight, with occasional left and right turns, at approximately 25 mph (40 km/h) or more for approximately 10 to 30 minutes.

The manual also says to rotate the tires with the power switch off, or the tire position information will not be updated. When tires or wheels are replaced, tire pressure warning valves and transmitters must also be installed, and each new valve and transmitter's ID code must be registered before the system is initialized. The manual says to contact your Toyota dealer when removing or fitting wheels, tires or the valves and transmitters.

Toyota Sienna tire pressure FAQ

What is the recommended tire pressure for a Toyota Sienna?

Toyota's 2026 Sienna owner's manual lists a recommended cold tire inflation pressure of 35 psi (240 kPa) front and rear for the 17-inch P235/65R17 and 18-inch P235/60R18 tires, and 36 psi (250 kPa) front and rear for the 20-inch 235/50R20 tire. The compact spare, on vans that have one, is 60 psi (420 kPa). Your van's tire and loading information label shows the figure for your tires.

Where do I find my Sienna's correct tire pressure?

The owner's manual says the recommended cold tire inflation pressure and tire size are displayed on the tire and loading information label. Use the figure on your van's label.

What tire sizes does a 2026 Sienna use?

The 2026 Sienna owner's manual lists three tire sizes: P235/65R17 103T on 17-inch wheels, P235/60R18 102V on 18-inch wheels and 235/50R20 100V on 20-inch wheels. Vans with a spare use a T155/80R17 111M compact spare on a 17-inch wheel.

Should I check tire pressure hot or cold?

Cold. The manual says to check only when the tires are cold: if the van has been parked for at least 3 hours or has not been driven more than 1 mile (1.5 km), you will get an accurate cold reading. It is normal for pressure to be higher after driving, and the manual says not to reduce pressure after driving.

How often should I check my Sienna's tire pressure?

The manual says to check tire inflation pressure every two weeks, or at least once a month, and not to forget the spare. It adds that the tire pressure warning system does not replace routine tire inflation pressure checks.

Why is my Sienna tire pressure light on in cold weather?

The manual says the tire pressure warning light may come on from natural causes such as natural air leaks and pressure changes caused by temperature. After the tires have cooled, check each tire and adjust it to the specified level; adjusting the pressure turns the light off after a few minutes.

Do I need to reset the Sienna's tire pressure system after a rotation?

Yes. The manual says the tire pressure warning system must be initialized when rotating or changing the tires, after registering ID codes and when changing between two registered wheel sets. Set the cold pressures to the specified level first, because initialization uses the current pressure as the benchmark.

Can Toyota of Fox Lake check my Sienna's tires?

Yes. Our service team in Fox Lake can check and set tire pressures to the figure on your van's label and look over tread and tire condition. See the service hours above or schedule online.
